GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION:                         

·         A Cardette Hopeful should be ready and willing to commit to teamwork, continue a wonderful tradition, and represent the team and college with the up most respect.  A Cardette Hopeful must hold a strong desire to work above and beyond the normal to maintain the quality and integrity of the Cardette name. 

·          Cardette auditions are held each year during the late spring and early summer.

·          Auditions are closed to the public and parents.  Auditions are only for those trying out for Cardettes, Cardette Sophomores, Current Cardette Escorts and the Cardette Director.  Only parents are welcome to sit in on the learning process.

·          New Freshman Cardettes will be announced the second day of regular auditions.   Early Audition results are posted in the Cardette web site on the day following the actual audition. 

AUDITION MATERIAL:                                                             

The routine taught for auditions will consist of small segments of jazz, high kick and hip-hop style.   A Cardette Hopeful MUST BE PREPARED to execute the following:

•  Splits on both legs  

•  Jump Splits

•  High Kicks (all types; kicks must be head level and higher!)

•  Basic split leap

•  Switch leap

•  Toe Touch

•  Axle Turn

•  Pirouettes (both single and double turns)  

•  Fouette turns

•  Jete' in second (also called a Russian)

•  Projection, Posture, and Confidence are a must!!

Part of the audition score is based on the execution of the above elements performed one at a time.  Be prepared to execute the above moves one at a time at auditions.

AUDITION ATTIRE:                                                                 

Cardette Hopefuls are to wear the following for auditions:    

•  Solid bright colored sports bra, half top or waist length dance top (NO leotards or black tops)

•  Black tights underneath black dance hot shorts

•  Black jazz shoes or jazz sneakers

•  Hair secured away from the face

•  Full make-up with RED lipstick

•  No cover-ups or wraps are allowed.

•  No jewelry.  No visible tattoos. 

•  T-shirt and shorts as well as sports bras only are not acceptable. 

• The attire for interviews is similar to what you would wear to a job interview.

VIDEO AUDITION:                                                                   

If you are not able to attend either of the scheduled auditions you may submit a video audition.  Your video audition must have the following:

• You performing a solo dance to music, preferably jazz style.
• Demonstrate each one of the AUDITION MATERIAL items above one at a time.
• Submit all required audition paperwork  - Cardette Application, 1 signed letter of recommendation, Director Recommendation Form,  Liability form, and a full body photo.
• Schedule a phone interview with the Director.

VIDEO CRITIQUE:                                             

If you are seriously interested in auditioning for Cardettes, we are offering a chance for you to get reviewed before auditions.  You can submit a video with the below items and we will send you back a critique of your video.  This opportunity is to help you prepare for your audition.  This video will not hurt you when it comes to auditions, it will only help you.  You have nothing to loose. 

There is also an opportunity for you to receive a SCOUTING SCHOLARSHIP which is a Cardette scholarship gift to those dancers who have displayed the qualities we are looking for in future Cardettes.

Video Critiques must be submitted to the Cardette Office no later than March 31st.  If you have any questions about the video critique, let us know.   

Your video critique should have the following:

• You performing a solo dance to music (preferably jazz and high kick style) or submit a recent dance with your team and denote where you are in the dance.
• Demonstrate each one of the AUDITION MATERIAL items above one at a time.
• Submit a Cardette Application and photo for our records.
