Trinity Valley Community College opened its first classes in Athens in 1946 as Henderson County Junior College. A satellite campus was later constructed in Palestine, Anderson County. Since 1972, TVCC-Palestine has continued to meet the ever-changing needs of its students and the surrounding communities.
The campus houses a wide range of academic and vocational programs in three modern buildings. The facility includes science labs, state-of-the-art computer laboratories, a nursing lab, and a cosmetology salon.
Students who attend TVCC-Palestine may choose from a variety of academic transfer courses including English, math, art, economics, biology, business and office administration, computer science, physical education, geography, religious studies, real estate, chemistry, accounting, photography, child development and music.
In addition, vocational-technical programs available include vocational nursing, cosmetology, mid-management, computer science, criminal justice, business and office technology, fire science and legal assistant.
Recent additions to the campus are the emergency medical technician and paramedic programs. TVCC-Palestine maintains its own ambulance for student training..
The campus is also host to a wide variety of continuing education classes from arts to computer classes, as well as adult education classes designed to help adult students return to college or advance in their jobs. Adult education classes include workforce preparation, GED and TASP preparation, and English as a Second Language (ESL).
TVCC is also helping to meet the economic needs of the community with the Small Business Development Center. Counselors from the SBDC, based in Athens, are available through the Palestine Chamber of Commerce and provide various free services for entrepreneurs, from advice and counseling to helping them to get started in business.
