Brad Smiley - Head Football Coach 

Brad Smiley begins his  second year with Trinity Valley in the role of head football coach. Although, this is Smiley’s second time with the program in his career, serving as the offensive line and tight ends coach in 1998 and 1999.  Other than the three years in Athens, Coach Smiley has spent his career in coaching at the Division I level.

Smiley came to Trinity Valley after spending 7 seasons in New Orleans at Tulane University, the majority of which he served as recruiting coordinator and coached the tight ends.  During his tenure at Tulane he was a part of an offense that produced the college’s all-time leading passer, leading scorer and leading rusher as well as several all-time leading receivers.  Also, offensively laying claim to 3 of Tulane’s top 5 seasons in total yardage and passing yardage.  While at Tulane he was a part of the team’s 2002 Hawaii Bowl Championship, 2005 Disney’s Wide World of Sports Spirit Award and 2005 Football Writers of America Association Courage Award.  

During his previous stop at Trinity Valley, Coach Smiley was part of the 1999 Southwestern Junior College Football Conference and 1999 Red River Bowl championship team.  The offense won league rushing titles in 1998 and 1999 and ranked top 10 nationally in rushing in both seasons.  Smiley coached seven All-Conference players and two All-Americans while at TVCC.

Smiley started his coaching career at his alma mater, Baylor University, as a student assistant in 1995.  Then moved on to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he spent the 1996 and 1997 seasons coaching the team’s tight ends.   He was a part of the1997 Southland Football Conference Championship team helping NSU advance to the NCAA Division I-AA Championship playoffs.

Smiley is married to Janna Clary Smiley, and the couple has two children, Benjamin Andrew, 5 and Clary Ann, 2.

William Reed - Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator

A veteran coach of all levels of football, from high school to the NFL, Will Reed is back in Athens for his second year and second stint at Trinity Valley.  No stranger to TVCC or Brad Smiley, Reed was also here for the 1998 and 1999 seasons.  During his tenure at Trinity valley he coached both defensive line (1998), and defensive backs (1999) during the program’s run to the 1999 Southwestern Junior College Football Conference and 1999 Red River Bowl championships.  While in Athens, Reed tutored several All-Conference and All-American players.

Since 2004, Reed has been coaching at Texas College in Tyler, Texas where he had been working as the team’s defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator, as well as an associate athletic director for the school.  Prior to Texas College, Coach Reed spent two seasons as head football and track coach at Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.

Reed has spent several years coaching professional football, leaving TVCC in 2000 to join the Milwaukee Mustangs Arena Football Club.  There he enjoyed success as the team’s assistant head coach and special teams coordinator, while coaching the team’s defensive backs.  Reed has also spent time with the New York City Hawks Arena Football Club, coaching defensive backs and wide receivers; and the Texas Terror Arena Football Club, coaching defensive backs, linebackers and running backs.  Coach Reed has also coached in the NFL, spending the 2004 and 2005 summers with the Minnesota Vikings. 

Reed has also played at the Division I and junior college levels.  He began his playing career at the College of the Siskiyous, where he obtained an Associate’s degree.  Then, continued his career as a safety for New Mexico State University, where he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism.

Coach Reed has one son, Cameron, and is married to his wife Yolanda.    

John Launius is in his second year with Trinity Valley and brings to the staff a wealth of experience with explosive offenses and the quarterback position.  He arrives in Athens after spending the 2006 season at Dodge City Community College in Kansas.   As offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Launius directed the Dodge City offense to one of the most prolific seasons in school history, finishing as one of the top passing offenses in the NJCAA.

Before entering the college ranks last season, Launius spent more than a decade coaching at the high school level.  From 2002 to 2005 he was the head football coach at Channelview High School, just outside of Houston, where he led the program to its most successful seasons in over 10 years.  Prior to Channelview he worked at Arkadelphia High School in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, from 1998 to 2001 as head football coach.

Along with coaching the position, Launius has had a successful career playing quarterback. As a three year starter at Arkadelphia High School, he led his alma mater to a state championship in football.  Launius then moved on to Southern Arkansas University where he was a four year starter at quarterback and finished his career with 11 different school records, including career total offense and touchdowns.

Launius is married to the former Keri Shaw and has three children, Morgan 9, Myles, 7, and Aiden 8 months. 

 Beau Davidson - Assistant Football Coach - Offensive Line

Beau Davidson joined the Trinity Valley staff in January of 2008, and helped put the finishing touches on a great recruiting class.  He comes to Athens after spending the previous four seasons at the University of North Texas, where he was most recently a graduate assistant coach working with the offensive line and special teams.  As a tight end and deep snapper for the UNT "Mean Green", Davidson was a part of two Sun Belt Conference Championships and two trips the New Orleans Bowl.

Prior to signing with the University of North Texas, Coach Davidson attended Syracuse University and Blinn Junior College.  As a student-athlete at Blinn he played offensive tackle and deep snapper and was named to the top 125 Junior College Recruiting List.  A native of Katy, Texas, Davidson is a former tight end, defensive end and deep snapper for Katy High School, which he helped to win the 2000 Texas 5A State Championship and the 1998, 1999 and 2000 District 19-5A Championships.

Antorio Kelly - Assistant Football Coach - Secondary Antorio Kelly is in his first season with Trinity Valley, and will have the role of secondary coach.  A native of east Texas, Coach Kelly hails from Sulphur Springs where he was a standout athlete in both football and track.  As a senior he was voted an all-state runningback, and went on to set the school record in the long jump, which still stands today.  No stranger to the Southwest Junior College Football Conference, Coach Kelly signed and played with Tyler Junior College as a defensive back, where he was an all-conference performer in 1997.  He then transferred and played football at Texas A&M - Commerce where he completed his B.S. in Kinesiology with a minor in Health & Human Performance. Antorio began his coaching career at Sulphur Springs High School as secondary and runningbacks coach in 2002 & 2003, then moved onto the college ranks at his alma mater Texas A&M  - Commerce in 2005 & 2006.  At TAMU-C he tutored the secondary under former TVCC head coach Scotty Conley.   Kelly is married to the former LaRisa McCowan, and have three children LaWren, C.J. and Jeremiah.

Eric Jones - Assistant Football Coach - Defensive Line A native of Fort Worth, Eric Jones arrives at Trinity Valley bringing a wealth of experience both as a football coach and a player.  Jones comes to TVCC after spending the 2007 season with new SWJCFC foe Arkansas Baptist College as defensive line coach.  Prior to ABC, he spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons with Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas also in the role of tutoring the defensive line.  Eric has also coached at several high schools in the DFW metroplex such as Nolan Catholic HS, First Baptist Academy and Arlington Grace Prep, where he helped the squad vie for a state championship. After a stellar career in both football and basketball at Polytechnical HS in Fort Worth, Jones attended Texas Southern University.  At TSU, Eric enjoyed a successful career as a defensive end, which included being named SWAC Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.  Following his collegiate career, Coach Jones played professionally in several leagues including the CFL, AFL and the World League.  Eric is married to his wife of 5 years Tamara, and has one son Jaelen,14.  In the off-season Jones works with other former NFL players in teaching youth life skills and football skills.

Jeremy Hammock - Director of Football Operations/Assistant Football Coach - Tight Ends

Jeremy Hammock joined the Trinity Valley Football family in February of 2008.  A native of Jonesboro, Louisiana he spent his college career at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where Hammock was a 4 year letter winner and 2 year starter at Tight End for the Indians/War Hawks.  While at ULM he helped the program win the 2005 Sun Belt Conference Championship.  Following his playing career, Coach Hammock remained with the program in the role of Assistant to the Director of Football Operations as well as recruiting assistant.

Jeremy holds a Bachelors of Arts in General Studies from ULM, and is currently pursuing his masters.
