You do NOT need to register to use the lessons.  Simply click on "Browse the lessons" and take them from there.

Introduction to Computers
: This course is a basic overview of desktop computers. Six lessons cover the following topics:  hardware and software, how the computer works, proper mouse technique, networking, and troubleshooting.
Requirements: access to a computer with Internet capability. Self-paced only.

InternetThis course is for people who are new to the World Wide Web. Topics include: history of the Internet, applying for a free e-mail account, sending e-mail, handling e-mail attachments, using different browsers, searching on the Internet, and downloading.
Requirements: Introduction to Computers or equivalent experience. Self-paced only.

Microsoft Windows ‘95Learn about one of the most popular operating systems in the world. Six lessons discuss basic Microsoft Windows skills.
Requirements: Introduction to Computers or equivalent experience. Self-paced only.

Intro to Microsoft Office Suite ‘97:  This course is a short, three- lesson overview of this application suite. Topics include: various menus and tool bars, dialog boxes, and the help menu.
Requirements: Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Windows 95 or equivalent experience. Self-paced only.

Microsoft Word '97:  Consisting of eighteen lessons, this course provides an excellent overview of this powerful word processing software.
Requirements: Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Windows 95, Introduction to Office 97 or equivalent experience. Instructor-led or self-paced.

Microsoft Excel ‘97: Learn how to enter data into a spreadsheet, use formulas, format a spreadsheet, and turn a spreadsheet into a chart or graph.
Requirements: Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Windows 95, Introduction to Office 97, Microsoft Word, or equivalent experience. Instructor-led or self-paced.

Microsoft PowerPoint ‘97:  Learn how to create an informative and visually pleasing presentation in six short lessons.
Requirements: Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Windows 95, Introduction to Office 97, Microsoft Word, or equivalent experience. Instructor-led or self-paced.

Microsoft Access ‘97:  Learn how to add information, perform queries, and create a database using Access '97.
Requirements: Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Windows 95, Introduction to Office 97, Microsoft Word, or equivalent experience.
Instructor-led or self-paced.

TALENT: Taking approximately three months to complete, the TALENT track is for students who have a minimal amount of experience on the computer and wish to develop their career potential. It is the online equivalent to the popular TALENT program through Goodwill ENC in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The TALENT track includes:

  • Word 97
  • Excel 97
  • PowerPoint 97
  • Applied Office Skills
    (resume and cover letter construction, communication skills, time management and budgeting strategies, tips for successful job hunting)

Requirements: Regular access to a computer with Internet capability. As a registered user, you will be able to work through your course with the assistance of an instructor. Instructor-led.
