Trinity Valley Community College is in the final phase of a transition required for all adult education providers across the state of Texas, according to Dr. Jerry King, Vice President for Instruction.

On May 18, 2013, Governor Rick Perry signed Texas Senate Bill 307, 83rd Legislature, Regular Session (2013), which transferred responsibility for adult education from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).

TVCC is continuing to provide adult education services as it works with TWC through the transitional process.  The college was informed this week that funding has been tentatively approved pending final contract negotiations for its adult education program through the Literacy Council of Tyler for 2014-2015.

“Trinity Valley Community College remains committed to our mission to elevate every student’s quality of life through education,” King said.

Adult education and literacy programs funded by TWC provide English language learning, math, reading, and writing instruction to help students acquire the skills needed to succeed in the workforce, earn a high school equivalency or enter college or career training.
