NJCAA names Ellis to All-America team

6-10 sophomore lone Region XIV player on first team


  Trinity Valley Community College sophomore Octavius Ellis has been named first team All-America by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
  Ellis, a 6-10 forward from Memphis, Tenn., averaged 14.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 blocked shots for the Cardinals this past season to help them to their first NJCAA tournament appearance since 1999. The Cardinals also recorded 29 win, the third most in school history. The Cardinals went 29-7 and were 2-1 at the national tournament.
  Ellis is the lone Region XIV player on the first, second or third teams of the honor squad.
  Joining Ellis on the first team are Sam Cassell Jr. (Chipola), T.J Dunans (Columbia State), Jordan Goodman (Harcum), Kadeem Allen (Hutchinson), Lester Medford (Indian Hills), Wayne Langston (McLennan), Jordan Stevens (Southeastern), Kevin Punter (State Fair) and Willie Wiley (Vincennes).
  The team was released today by the NJCAA.
