Administrative Outcomes Update #1
Spring 2006, (May 5th)

Administrative Outcomes for the 2006-07 Academic Year
Develop by June 15, 2006.

It’s time to develop ADMINISTRATIVE OUTCOMES for the 2006-07 Academic Year for each administrative unit for the 2006-07 Academic Year, which will begin in Fall 2006.  Administrative Outcomes forms are very similar to last year, with the exception of the need to link outcomes to newly developed Strategic Planning Goals.  These were developed and approved by the Board of Trustees in April 2006. For a listing of these goals, go to the Strategic Planning Website -- http://www.tvcc.edu/opie/StrategicPlanning/  It is key that you give significant thought to these outcomes, as the Board has asked for overall strategies that will be utilized to accomplish the strategic planning goals.  One method of obtaining the strategies to present to the Board is through a synthesis of Administrative Outcomes submitted by each of TVCC’s planning units.

To complete the Administrative Outcomes, please download a 2006-07 Administrative Outcomes form and complete at least three goals for each planning unit.  The form is located online at:  http://www.tvcc.edu/opie/StudentLearning/AdminOutcomesForm.doc  (one form will be needed for each outcome)

In developing Administrative Outcomes, please remember that the point of this process is to provide information that will enhance the ability of faculty, departments, and the institution to accomplish our mission as a learning-centered college.

These are due to my office by June 15, 2006.  Individual program coordinators, division chairs, and deans will need to set appropriate deadlines in order to see that these are in on time.

Administrative Outcomes for the 2005-06 Academic Year
Continue to Implement and Assess, and then Report results by September 15, 2006

Be reminded that Administrative Units need to continue to implement and assess the Administrative Outcomes that they are operating under for the 2005-06 Academic Year.  The results from these plans will be due September 15, 2006.  Your plans for this year are located online at:  http://www.tvcc.edu/opie/CARDS/AdminOutcomesIndex.aspx

QUESTION -- IS THIS RELATED TO SACS?
ANSWER--  YES, BUT THAT’S NOT THE ONLY REASON WE’RE DOING IT!

This is a process that the institution should carry out regardless of whether SACS is on the doorstep or not.  In fact, I mentioned it is connected with the Strategic Plan above.  Additionally, this structure is envisioned as a means through which to encourage the institution to develop a “Learning Culture” that is discussed in the strategic planning goal #1.  As such, this process should lead to revealing information that the department and institution learns about itself; which should then lead to improvement in this area.  This is why departments are asked to focus on things that are important to them.

Having said that, Institutional Effectiveness is one of the four most cited recommendations from SACS and in the documentation that we submitted to SACS in March we included our Administrative Outcomes from 2002-03 forward.  For some time, SACS has moved towards an outcomes-based process that includes documentation of action based upon outcomes.  These higher standards may lead us to receive a recommendation in this area; therefore, it is vital that we continue to enhance our ability to carry-out this process.  If this is a recommendation from SACS, we must provide completed Administrative Outcomes evidence to SACS as a follow-up this summer.   Therefore, ALL PROGRAMS MUST COMPLETE THE REQUIRED 2006-07 ADMINISTRATIVE OUTCOMES FORMS BY THE DEADLINE!  Failure to do so may lead to this being a continuing issue during the on-site visit, which is October 24-26, 2006, and for SACS follow-up visits.
