Dr. Thomas Hainze

Career Statement

I am a teacher by choice. I spent nearly 20 years in the defense industry. When my youngest child graduated from High School with excellent college scholarships, I returned to get a PhD from Texas Tech because I wanted to teach instead of making better tanks.

I tried teaching at a university, but found that far too many of my peers “did not have time for students” due to pressures of publish or perish. If I was going to be doing research instead of teaching, I would return to industry since that is what I did in industry. Tried teaching in a Community College and found that was what I was looking for.

Bottom-line. I am here because this is where I want to be, not because it is where I have to be.

Personal Philosophy.

I would prefer that people smile when I arrive and not when I leave.
