COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides
an examination of the physiological and social effects of drugs and other
harmful substances.

Drugs, Society, & Human Behavior, by Ray and Ksir, Mosby Pub. 11th edition
MAJOR LEARNING OUTCOMES
The student will be able to identify and differentiate commonly used and abused
drugs in regard to physiological effects, medical uses, and terminology for
classification.
The student will recognize the problems and related issues to drugs and the
community, family and person view points.
METHODS OF EVALUATION
Student will be evaluated by means of chapter assignments, chapter tests, a
research paper, and the final exam.

METHODS OF
INSTRUCTION
Lectures, discussions and group reporting methods will be utilized the majority
of the time. Guest speakers, field trips and videos will also be used
throughout the course.
LATE WORK POLICY
Each
student will be responsible for turning in all work in a timely manner. Late work will be penalized at the teacher’s
discretion.
