J Pond - Offensive Line/Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

J Pond - Offensive Line / Director of Strength & Conditioning

J Pond has finished his third year with the Cardinals, joining the program in 2009 as offensive line coach, and taking over the reigns of the teams strength and conditioning in the spring of 2010.  Under his tutelage the Cardinal offensive lines have helped lead the way for one of the most explosive offenses in the conference and in the nation.  In 2011, two of Pond's pupils finished the season as 1st team All-SWJCFC performers, and both were recognized as NJCAA 2nd Team All-Americans.

In 2010, J coached 2 members of the All-SWJCFC team, bringing his total to four 1st or 2nd team all conference performers in the past 2 seasons.  His boys up front have also helped pave the way for 3 offensive All-American selections (QB Tucker Carter, RB Josh Johnson and RB Chad Winbush), the 2010 SWJCFC Player Of The Year, the 2011 SWJCFC Offensive Player Of The Year and the 2009 SWJCFC Offensive Player Of The Year .

Coach Pond came to Athens after spending two seasons at Sul Ross State University.  While with the Lobos, Coach Pond coached the offensive line and held the titles of recruiting coordinator and director of strength and conditioning.  In his two seasons in Alpine, TX, the Lobos offensive line led the way for one of the American Southwest Conference's most potent rushing attacks.

An alumnus of The Fighting Texas A&M Aggies and 2-time football letterman, J earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management in 2005.  J also holds a Masters of Physical Education from SRSU (2007).  While in College Station, Pond helped the Aggies reach the 2004 SBC Cotton Bowl and the 2006 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. He still holds a number of lifting titles at A&M and was selected to participate in the Night of Champions where he broke the school record in the power clean with a weight of 470 lbs.
