 Antonio Whitfield - Tight Ends & Receivers 

Antonio joined the Trinity Valley Football program for his first season in the fall of 2010, and handled the Cardinal’s tight ends and wide receivers.  In 2010, he led a group of receivers that helped put the Cardinals at the top of the SWJCFC in total yardage as well as finishing 5th in the NJCAA.  Two of his pupils, Adam Watson and Chris Franklin, finished 1st and 2nd in the conference in receptions as well as Franklin also leading the conference in receiving touchdowns.  Whitfield, the afore mentioned players and 2nd Team All-SWJCFC wide receiver Jeremiah Williams helped lead Trinity Valley to the 2010 SWJCFC Championship game. 

Coach Whitfield came to Athens from West Hills College in Coalinga, CA where he spent the previous season (2009) coaching the team’s wide receivers.  Prior to his time in California, Coach Whitfield coached 4 seasons (2005-08) at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, AR. While with Arkansas Tech University, he worked with both the tight ends (2005), and wide receivers (2006-2008).  In 2005, under Antonio's tutelage his starting tight end was named both 1st Team All Gulf South Conference, and NCAA Division II All-American.  He also had wide receivers enjoy some post season awards, having one receiver named to the All Gulf South team each of his 3 seasons.

A native of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, Antonio attended Irving High School enjoying a stellar career playing tight end for the Tigers.  After high school, Antonio signed with and played tight end for Tyler Junior College and then did the same for the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  While in Monticello he completed his Bachelor’s of Science in Health & Wellness and a minor in History.  He also holds a Master’s of Science in Instructional Technology from Arkansas Tech University.
