No. 2-Dexter Ellington
Class: Freshman
Height:
6’0”
Weight: 180
Hometown: Cuthbert, Ga.
Coach's Notes:
As a versatile guard, Ellington should fit in nicely at Trinity Valley because of a high basketball IQ and passing/scoring ability.  He is extremely quick and makes great decisions. Ellington has a chance to be a fan favorite with his all-out style of play.

No. 3 - Phadarius Taylor
Class: Freshman
Height:
6’1”
Weight: 190
Hometown: Jacksonville, Fla.
Coach's Notes:
Taylor is a strong athlete with nice quickness and very explosive on the perimeter. He can get to the rim off the bounce and can either finish at the rim or find a teammate. He possesses a nice feel for the game and rarely forces the action.

No. 11 - Billy Tharp
Class: Sophomore
Height:
6’3”
Weight: 185
Hometown: Killeen, Texas
Coach's Notes:
Tharp has a lengthy frame with long arms and gives 100 percent at all times. He is a very good shooter with range out to the stripe and his stroke is solid. He has nice bounce to his game as and came out of nowhere as a walk-on to earn a spot on the team.  He projects to be a very valuable member of the Cardinal team this year and has a chance to play a major role for Coach Pat Smith.

No.
15 - Ernest "Stretch" Watson
Class: Freshman
Height:
6’7”
Weight: 180
Hometown: Washington, D.C.
Coach's Notes:
“Stretch” has the talent to hurt opposing defenses in many ways. He has a silky smooth release and good range on his jump shot. Watson also has very soft touch around the basket and can score in the post.  He plays with great poise and does not force shots, instead allowing the game to come to him and scoring within the context of the offense.

No. 20 - Edward Herring
Class: Sophomore
Height:
6’4”
Weight: 210
Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio
Coach's Notes:
Herring is a natural scorer with a college ready body. Herring possesses a solid frame with fairly long arms and overall length. He is an explosive athlete with a deceptive first step and he's quite bouncy as well. He's likes to score and he can put points up in a hurry. He is an allusive offensive player with a tremendous knack of finding ways to finish in traffic.

No.
23 - Keandre Derrick
Class: Freshman
Height:
6’2”
Weight: 190
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
Coach's Notes:
Derrick is a very talented all-around guard who can shoot and handle the ball.  He really excels on the defensive end, uses his athletic gifts to cause chaos for the opposing team.  The son of former Cardinal/Washington State great Neil Derrick, he sat out last year at Prairie View University.

No. 24 - Jay Leashore
Class: Freshman
Height:
5’10”
Weight: 180
Hometown: Mobile, Ala.
Coach's Notes:
Leashore's energy, speed and competitiveness are some of the traits that recruiters love about his game.  He has good quickness and ball-handling skills that suit him well for the point guard slot. He can effectively break down defenders and get to the rim.  On the defensive end of the court he sets the tempo for the Cardinals.

No. 31 - Derrick Young
Class: Freshman
Height:
6’4”
Weight: 220
Hometown: Mobile, Ala.
Coach's Notes:
This Jacksonville State transfer is a difficult match-up. For starters, he's strong, aggressive, and explosive. Young is very athletic and does a great job of attacking the basket. He starts many breaks with a play on the defensive end and runs the floor well for the finish on offense.  He has the quick, explosive leaping ability that helps him to score easily from offensive rebounds.

No. 34 - Stephon Mudiay
Class: Freshman
Height:
6’7”
Weight: 200
Hometown: Mansfield, Texas
Coach's Notes:
The thing that makes Mudiay so interesting as a prospect is his versatility. His ability to post and score inside makes him too big and strong for small forwards to handle. On the flip side, he's very skilled on the wing, and can bury the open 3-pointer.  Mudiay is a very good passer and handles the ball well in the open court.  Due to his length and athleticism he has the potential to be a shut-down defender.

No. 40 - Reuben Newbold
Class: Freshman
Height:
6’6”
Weight: 190
Hometown: Miami, Fla.
Coach's Notes:
Newbolds’ strength is in his transition game as he really gets up and down the floor. He is a good athlete who scores while going to the basket.  His leaping ability is off the charts, which he uses to finish off plays with big-time dunks.  Newbold was a redshirt last season for the Cardinals.

No. 45 - Adrian Forbes
Class: Freshman
Height:
6’8”
Weight: 220
Hometown: Spanish Town, Jamaica
Coach's Notes:
This young man has great strength, long arms, and a very chiseled body; all of which makes him a terror on the interior on both ends of the court. Forbes uses his strength to establish prime positioning for rebounding and scoring in the post.  Forbes will provide the Cardinal guards with an eraser in the paint, which should help them to play the trademark TVCC pressure defense.
