J Pond - Offensive Line/Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

J Pond enters his second year with the Cardinals, joining the program in January of 2009, and will once again coach the offensive line.  Under his tutelage in the fall of 2009, the Cardinal offensive line helped pave the way for one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, finishing 6th in the NJCAA in Total Offense, 7th in the NJCAA in Rushing Offense and 10th in the NJCAA in Passing Offense. J coached four members of the All-SWJCFC team, including 2nd Team selection Michael Washington, and his boys up front opened up lanes for All-American and SWJCFC Offensive Player Of The Year Chad Winbush, as well 2nd Team All-SWJCFC running back Josh Johnson.

Coach Pond came to Athens after spending the previous two seasons at Sul Ross State University.  While with the Lobos, Coach Pond coached the offensive line and held the titles of recruiting coordinator and director of strength and conditioning.  In his two seasons in Alpine, TX, the Lobos offensive line led the way for one of the American Southwest Conference's most potent rushing attacks.

An alumnus of The Fighting Texas A&M Aggies (2002-2006), J earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management.  J also holds a Masters of Physical Education from SRSU (2007).  While in College Station, Pond helped the Aggies reach the SBC Cotton Bowl in 2004 and the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl in 2006. He still holds a number of lifting titles at A&M and was selected to participate in the Night of Champions where he broke the school record in the power clean with a weight of 470 lbs.
