John
Launius - Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
John Launius just finished his second year with Trinity Valley,
directing a high-flying offense that put up big numbers week in and week
out in 2008. The offense included several All-Conference
performers that finished among the top of the league in passing, rushing
and receiving. The Cards balanced offensive attack not only ranked
among the best in the SWJCFC, but they were among the nation's best as
well. TVCC ranked in the top 18 nationally in passing offense
(#18), rushing offense (#15), total offense (#13) and touchdown passes
(#12).
Launius brought Trinity Valley a wealth of experience with
both explosive offenses and the quarterback position. He arrived in
Athens in 2007, after spending the previous season at Dodge City C.C. in
Dodge City, Kansas. As offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Launius directed the Dodge City offense to one of the most prolific
seasons in school history, finishing as one of the top passing offenses
in the Jayhawk Conference and NJCAA.
Before entering the college ranks in 2006, Launius spent more than a decade coaching at the high school
level. From 2002 to 2005 he was the head football coach at
Channelview High School, just outside of Houston, where he led the
program to its most successful seasons in over 10 years.
Prior to Channelview he worked at Arkadelphia High School in
Arkadelphia, Arkansas, from 1998 to 2001 as head football coach.
Along with coaching the position, Launius had an incredibly successful
playing career as a quarterback. A three year starter
at Arkadelphia High School, he led his alma mater to Arkansas High
School Football State
Championship in his senior season. Launius then moved on to Southern
Arkansas University where he was a four year starter at quarterback for
the Mule Riders, finishing his career with 11 different school records, including career
total offense and touchdowns.
Launius is married to the former Keri
Shaw and has three children, Morgan 11, Myles, 9, and Aiden, 1.
